A lot of people might be off work at the moment, but for those who are still going out every day, they’ve had to put measures in place to look after their health and that of others. You’ll probably have seen plenty of people wearing gloves and masks, but this hairdresser from the Netherlands took it one step further, as she wasn’t able to self-isolate completely.
A hairdresser in the Dutch city of Oss has decided to ‘wear’ an umbrella. A video clip shared over 82,000 times on Facebook showcases the woman wearing an umbrella with holes cut into it for her eyes and arms, as well as a pair of disposable gloves, in a bid to try and stop the virus from spreading any further.
The employee of Bella Rosa salon might have looked a little silly wearing an umbrella, but it was undoubtedly an ingenious idea that won praise and positive feedback from social media users. She was referred to as “Superwoman” by one, while another called those in the video clip a “bunch of lunatics”. Perhaps she’s both, because that’s the sort of thing that’s needed during a global pandemic.
She’s not the only person to use unusual methods of protection over the last few days. As well as the usual masks, people have taken to wearing all sorts of weird contraptions if they aren’t able to stay at home. One man went outside in the Chinese city of Sanming on scooter dressed as an astronaut in a bid to get some further protection.
He bought the inflatable costume online for the equivalent of about $15, and also wore a face mask underneath. He has received mixed reactions online, with some experts declaring that costumes like this won’t actually help in protecting people from the virus. The wearing of face masks and a focus on keeping hygienic is said to be more important.
